Album Review

The U.S. debut solo album by Frou Frou vocalist Imogen Heap is a captivating record that fuses innovative electronic soundscapes with a strong female voice. If "Goodnight and Go" — a lilting, pulsating, and hit-ready concoction — and the alluring, synthesized pop of "Hide and Seek" are the most direct numbers, experimental numbers like the ethereal "Have You Got It in You?" plus the rhythm-fueled "Headlock" and "Loose Ends" suggest Heap has written and produced the finest electro/alt rock CD of 2005. By the time the eclectic, innovative "Closing In" arrives late in the cycle of Speak for Yourself, there's little denying it.~ John D. Luerssen, Rovi

Truly Amazing

After discovering the Frou Frou album - which was an excellent group, original and dynamic and listening to them to death I found Imogen Heap with this album. At first I was not excited about the many differences of her own album to Frou Frou however the more I listened to it, the more amazing I found her to be. Her lyrics, voice and everchanging rhythms are absolutely mesmerizing. This is my new favourite album! I love just about every song on this album - a hard feat for any artist to accomplish. I highly recommend this and any other performance by Imogen Heap. She simply rocks.

A Masterpiece of Art in every Form

I bought this album in 2005, back when it wasn't as recognized, and remember listeing to the album for hours trying to pick out the different layers of sounds. Imogen Heap originality really shines in this album. As we near 09' I still listen to this album daily. Beautifully Made, a must buy for your collection!

For all the people saying Jason D.'s is better, it is Imogen Heap in his song, they just changed her voice...

As a rule, group efforts are normally launched before a solo career -- not after a solo career is in full swing. First, the artist makes a name for himself/herself as part of a group, then the artist leaves the group to become a full-time solo performer. That's the standard procedure, but British singer/songwriter Imogen Heap took a different approach, having already established her solo credentials for several years before becoming half of the London-based duo Frou Frou. Although based in London,...
