iTunes Review

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals have been proving themselves on the live circuit for years, proving to one audience at a time that the band has the ability to jam with the best of them and that their lead singer, Grace Potter, is someone who deserves the comparisons she receives to previous rock royalty. The trick, of course, is figuring out how to capture all this raw energy in the studio and fit it into somewhat conventional songs. (Plenty of legendary live bands never make career-defining studio releases.) This self-titled release is a tight production that displays Potter’s blues (“Paris (Ooh La La)”), the band’s lean towards reggae (“Goodbye Kiss,” “One Short Night”) and their ability to sound like a band that belongs on classic-rock radio (“Tiny Light”). The quieter moments in “Colors,” the vocal slink behind “Money” and the hints of Memphis soul on “Low Road” and the reflective grace of “Things I Never Needed” and “Fooling Myself” show where the “Nocturnal” side of the band comes alive.

Rock & Roll Lives!!!

Amazing Grace Potter & the Nocturnals are an incredible live act with an album to match! This band is like revisiting 1974 all over again. The look, the feel & the sound, they got it all!
Comparisons to Joplin, Raitt, & Stevie Nicks don't do Grace justice. She's her own incredible voice of a new generation!! Buy it & love it!!!!

Grace Potter is God

Grace Potter is the woman Rock has been waiting for since its invention 65 years ago. I have lived to hear Grace rock n roll, Thank you God! Grace is just the best woman rocker who ever has been. Take the best of Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin's voices, add a musician, add a songwriter, add beauty, add showmanship, add energy and you have Grace Potter. If you haven't heard her yet I feel sorry for you. You are missing one incredible talent.
It would be a mistake not to mention the terrific musicians she has surrounded herself with. Just a fabulous collection of talent. Altogether, this makes the new album the best bargain ever!

It's not often these days to find a band/artist this exceptional. The albums "Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and "This Is Somewhere" don't have a bad song on them - every song is excellent. Also check out the concert movie/video "Live at the Fillmore" filmed in San Francisco December 13th, 2009. Exceptional!

Genre: Rock

Singer, songwriter, and Hammond B-3 player Grace Potter grew up in Waitsfield, Vermont, where she began playing piano at the age of seven; informed by her parents' extensive collection of some 4,000 LPs, she was gigging out locally by her late teens. She met drummer Matt Burr at an open-mike session while both were attending St. Lawrence University in upstate New York in 2002, and the two formed Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. The band, by then a trio with the addition of Scott Tournet on guitar,...
