Gravity (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by Steven Price on Apple Music

EDITORS’ NOTES

If you could create the sound of floating in outer space, it would probably resemble British composer Steven Price's score for the astronaut film Gravity. Each piece is built on long, suspended chords from chilly-sounding strings and synthesizers; in "Don't Let Go," the tension builds for 11 minutes. "Aningaaq" is a near-silent soundscape, with lightly echoed piano, that evokes the dislocation one might feel on an interplanetary trip. The only resolution comes on "Shenzou," which uses a drum machine to give a majestic, rising feel.
