Musicality at it's best

Yet another Alanis album that reminds us there are real artists and singer/songwriters out there. During a time when controversy and sex sell, it's great to see an AMAZING talent who is selling her voice and music with nothing more than her raw talent. Entire Album is amazing! Great stuff Alanis!

Whimsical

Alanis has become a whimsical singer where most of her lyrics and mantras come from the east and new age "religion" or ways of life. The songs are pleasing and can get struck in your head but she tries too hard to be dark and concerned by the world around her. I feel embarrassed for her on songs like, woman down and celebrity, as she overly extends herself to be gritty and mean but presently surprised by songs like Havoc, Empathy and Lens, which are hopeful and precious. All and all it's a fun album and the beats and drum loops make the album light and full.

A solid album but I still prefer a more moody Alanis "Flavours Of Entanglement"

Alanis Morissette's new album Havoc & Bright Lights is much more upbeat and happy than "Flavours Of Entanglement" which still remains my favourite album from her, as it's darker, more malaise and had killer B-Sides. However this album is solid. "Havoc & Bright Lights" is her first post-baby album. Many of the themes are inspired by her life as a mother and her new baby, but she doesn't make it obvious enough in every song that she becomes stagnant and boring, loosing who she is. LOL I think Alanis fans will still embrace this new album, it is happier and more upbeat but still a great album. Thank you for prooving me wrong Alanis, babies don't always make you go boring. I think the feel of the album touches more on "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" and "Under Rug Swept" than her other albums. My favourite songs are obviously the ballads "TIL YOU" and "NUMB" followed by "HAVOC" "EDGE OF EVOLUTION" "LENS" and "CELEBRITY"

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Alanis Morissette was one of the most unlikely stars of the mid-'90s. A former child actress turned dance-pop diva, Morissette later transformed herself into a confessional alternative singer/songwriter in the vein of Liz Phair and Tori Amos. However, she bolstered that formula with enough pop sensibility, slight...
