Editors’ Notes

Approaching 50 years old with this release, Madonna can no longer pretend to be the young seductress. So 50 is the new 40? The new 30? Madonna doesn’t aim for a precise number. Instead, she works to make time itself irrelevant. 2008’s Hard Candy, a few technological tones aside, could just as easily have come out in the mid-80s, the mid-90s, or anytime during her long, enduring career. It’s Madonna on the dancefloor, letting the rhythms and producers do the heavy lifting while her voice skates over the grooves with a sultry reassurance that at this point is the sound of an old familiar comrade letting you know she’s still fighting the good fight. Timbaland, the Neptunes, and Nate “Danja” Hills add their production touches, but it’s Madonna’s reflective touch that delivers the somber twists of “Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You,” the nostalgic glaze of “Incredible” where she admits, “I wanna go back to then,” and the “Everybody” tint of “Heartbeat” where she states, “It may be old to you but it feels new to me.” At this point she’s riding the wave, hanging on for dear life and making it every bit the adventure we’ve come to expect from her career.

A New Step In Madonna's Career .. (Rating 4.5/5)

Once again Madonna has made a great album of cathy tunes which you will be dancing to months from now. Although one or two tracks are weak it is a new step in Madonna's ever expanding career. Here is a track-by-track rating of the songs: 1.Candy Shop: 9/10 (A great little appetizer for what's to come) 2. 4 Minutes: 9.5/10 (A catchy first single, I think we'be all heard this one) 3. Give It 2 Me: 9/10 (Rumored to be the second single, great song) 4. Heartbeat: 8.5/10 (Great beat and overall a good song) 5. Miles Away: 10/10 (My favorite song on the whole album, catchy, great mid-tempo ballad) 6. She's Not Me: 7.5/10 (Not a favorite, pretty generic compared to he whole album) 7. Incredible: 8/10 (A cathy song, great production) 8.Beat Goes On: 9.5/10 (My second favorite song, love the collaboration and overall a great song) 9. Dance 2night: 8/10 (Old school track, a funky beat, an okay song) 10. Spanish Lesson: 6.5/10 (The least favorite track on this album, abstract but it does not work) 11. Devil Wouldn't Reconize You: 8.5/10 (Great lyrics, great production a well put together song) 12. Voices: 8/10 (A okay song, great way to end the album) 13. 4 Minutes (Remix) (Paul Saves..) : 8.5/10 14. 4 Mintues (Remix) (Junkie XL..): 8/10 15. Give It 2 Me: 9/10 (At par with original) 16. Ring My Bell (Pre-Order Only): 9/10 (A pretty good song, I feel bad for those who did not pre-order and get this song) This CD is a collection of catchy Hip-Hop/Pop songs that although are not classic's (except 'Miles Away') but that work for the present. It's not Madonna's strongest effort but it is pretty well done in all angles. 'Miles Away' in my opinion will be a classic Madonna song. If you are to get one song from this album get 'Miles Away'. I hope to hear more from Madonna in the future.

Sav!!!!

ok.. where to begin .. um well this whole album sound like a Grandma singing pop songs.. not a good image.. and kind of creepy.. so in a nut shell this album is ssaavagly grotesque.

After stars reach a certain point, it's easy to forget what they became famous for and concentrate solely on their personas. Madonna is such a star. She rocketed to stardom so quickly in 1984 that it obscured most of her musical virtues. Appreciating her music became even more difficult as the decade wore on, as discussing her lifestyle became more common. However, one of Madonna's greatest achievements is how she has manipulated the media and the public with...
