Editors’ Notes

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ billowing cloud of avant-rock is invaded here by a clutch of disco synths, exploring new areas of tempo, personality and atmosphere for this New York art-punk trio. Guitarist Nick Zinner steers the course with imaginative guitar work, drummer Brian Chase probably hasn’t had this much fun drumming on a record before, and singer Karen O wraps herself in electrical-taped chiffon for disco drag-outs “Zero,” “Heads Will Roll” and “Dragon Queen.” Production from David Sitek (TV On the Radio) and Nick Launay ensure It’s Blitz! is a contemporary affair. The Deluxe Edition includes bonus acoustic versions of “Soft Shock,” “Skeletons,” “Hysteric,” and “Runaway,” plus iTunes exclusive track “Faces.”

not what I expected

I felt the band tried to play it too safe with this one. I was disappointed not because the songs sucked but because it felt too clean for YYY. If this was their way of experimenting, then there were no in your face explosions but there were also no ground breaking discoveries as well.

First great album of 2009

This is the first genuinely good record of this year. Beats everything else, from the indiest of indie releases to the biggest pop hits thus far. If you only download one song, make it 'Little Shadow'..because it's awesome.

Bravo !

I love the yeah yeah yeahs albums, and this one is another great musical achievement ! The sound is different, yet the same, always that unique something about them. Heads will roll is one of my favorite on this album as well as Skeletons & Hysteric. The acoustic versions are amazing as well ! Bravo ! 5 Stars !
