iTunes Review

For their seventh album, Tegan and Sara put down their guitars and made a consummate shift to stratospheric synth-pop. It unites the sisters' once-disparate songwriting sensibilities to massive effect: “Closer” and “Drove Me Wild” are dizzyingly euphoric, yet the populist shift doesn’t sacrifice their emotional complexity. “I Was a Fool” is a gorgeous piano ballad, “Shock to Your System” is a dystopian girl-group number, and on “I'm Not Your Hero,” Sara sings candidly about the difficulty of being a queer role model. Deep yet danceable, Heartthrob is one of the finest pop records of the '10s.

It's different, but I love it!

Neo-80's -- that is the first thing that pops into my head when I listen to Tegan and Sara's "Heartthrob" -- sounds like I've gone back in time; I'm quite liking this!'s so different from what they've done before, and of course a part of me truly misses their old sound, **however**, Tegan and Sara are artists and artists need the room to experiment, grow, change, and be inspired by other artists and other music. The girls have shared with their fans time and time again that they listen to hip-hop and rap, etc (and to Kate bush diring the recording of Heartthrob)... and we've all heard their dance collaborations (ex: Tiesto) why are some so angry? If you're a tru-blue fan of Tegan and Sara, and you've been following them since they've started, then it should be no news to you that from album to album, their music changes -- you can't expect them to make the same kind of music all the time **Which is why I completely disagree with those calling them sellouts -- after your 7th album, you can't be a sellout when you've constantly been experimenting with your sound** I love it, and will continue to love Tegan and Sara, no matter what they come up with next!! xo

An entirely new band

longtime fans of Tegan and Sara may be disappointed of the new direction the band chose. This is a very radio-pop-commercial oriented album, their last one, sainthood, was kind of an introduction to this one. This said, most songs are very catchy, but lyrically simplistic. I personally miss the guitars, i feel like they traded them for electronic keyboards.

Anyone who likes pop music and 80's sound will probably love this album.

Been a fan and supporting Tegan and Sara for a while now. I'm so proud of them. This album is fantastic. I'd recommend this to everyone.

An award-winning, internationally successful duo comprising identical siblings Tegan and Sara Quin, Tegan and Sara first burst onto the Canadian music scene in 1998, when they earned the highest score in history at Calgary's Garage Warz competition; their quick rise didn't stop, for their melodic acoustics and charming stage personas led to a slew of dates with Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair that same year and a record deal with Neil Young's Vapor Records in April 2000. Natives of Calgary, the twin...
