Editors’ Notes

Nearly a decade after their classic debut In Search of..., N.E.R.D. is back with their fourth full-length, another collection of hyper-produced, genre-defying party music from Pharrell, Chad, and Shae. This effort finds the group continuing to grow, embracing new sounds (though some of their trademark Neptunes presets are still in effect), and effortlessly fusing elements from straight pop, hard rock, dance-club jams, and slick R&B. "Hypnotize U" is a freaky little falsetto joint somewhat reminiscent of "Frontin'," peppered with video-game percussion and seductive whispers, "God Bless Us All" is a relentlessly positive, it's-all-good type joint, while "Nothing On You" sounds like classic Neptunes, with catchy synths supporting tales of the perfect girl. T.I. appears on the aptly titled opener "Party People," and Nelly Furtado lends her vocals to "Hot-n-Fun," but it's mostly all N.E.R.D. doing what they do best, creating funky tracks that stick in your head all day and demand to be danced to all night.

N.E.R.D is BACK!

Classic tunes, brings me back to the old days of Fly or Die! I'm loving all the tunes on this album so far!

Chicks will like it.

I'm happy to have a new N.E.R.D. album apart of my CD collection! I probably listen to them more than any other artist. There songs could put me in a good mood instantly. Pharrell is a genious. Hope there are more albums by N.E.R.D. to come. Perhaps a new Pharrell album.

The acronym N.E.R.D. stands for "No One Ever Really Dies," but childhood friends Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams, and Shay most certainly used the group to proudly emphasize the nerdier aspects of their musical personalities. Before this side project took shape, Hugo and Williams — as the Neptunes — had established themselves as giants in the field of pop production, whether they were working with hardcore rappers, smooth crooners, or teen pop groups. Although their faces were known to many...
