Storyline

Storyline

Hunter Hayes’ 2011 debut left no doubt that he was one of the most prodigiously talented artists in Nashville—the 22-year-old played all of the instruments on that GRAMMY®-nominated effort. Hayes again co-wrote all the songs on Storyline, but his second full-length calls on members of his touring band (including groundbreaking pedal steel player Paul Franklin) to fill things out. The result is a sleekly produced collection of modern country that alternates driving, radio-ready hooks and sensitive ballads. Hayes’ taste for traditional instrumentation (finger-picked guitar, mandolin, and banjo) gives rousing songs like “Flashlight” and “Storyline” a traditionalist bent, while ballads like “Still Fallin’” and “Invisible” are climactic, lushly produced highlights.
