Phenomenal. One of, possibly the best, album so far this year.

Fiona Apple. Oh, sweet little ironically fascinatingly gorgeous little Fiona Apple. She has a way with words and she completely surprised me with how fantastic this album is. A 7 year wait, lots of hype, and three already fantastic albums later, this gem came about, and let me tell you, she completely blew it out of the metaphorically melodious park.

The stunner starts off with the first single, and deservingly so, "Every Single Night" which showcases everything the album is about, a miss-mash of confused but articulate words and emotions, "Every single night's a fight with my brain/I just wanna feel everything," she sings in her flawed and sometimes cracklingly beautiful voice, which adds to the album's already stellar minimalistic production. Each song after showcases the sheer brilliance that I've come to love over the past 3 albums, "Daredevil", "Werewolf" and "Valentine" with their fantastic choruses, "Periphery", "Left Alone" and "Regret" with beautiful lyrics and unconventional sounds that meld in complete harmony. The closer "Hot Knife" deserves a listen and deserves to be praised on its own merit and she sings, "If I'm butter then he's a hot knife". "Anything We Want" finds her at her happiest, "I wanted you to kiss me when we find some time alone," she sings while tins and the piano meld together to make a cutesy, happy little melody, making this track, so unconventional of Apple to attempt, my favourite track off the album. I'm sure that will change tomorrow, however, as each song on this album is flawless. Every listen I learn something new, as with all of Apple's albums, and every time I'm floored.

A definite must-buy for any Apple fan and for anyone who find joy in pop music as an art form.

Poetic words cut deep. Uncensored emotion. Musical genius.

Fiona is one of the far and too few in-between musicians of today.
This album is a real gem and produces “that something” original that we are all seeking in today’s music.

Instant classic

Absolutely incredible record

Fiona Apple defied categorization or any easy career path, almost running the pattern in reverse, opening her career as a highly touted and popular alternative singer/songwriter, then transitioning into a cult artist. Apple certainly benefited from the open-door policy of modern rock in the mid-’90s, following the path of crossover alt-rock piano-based songwriters like Tori Amos, but Apple was hardly an Amos copycat: she had a strong jazz undertow in her vocal phrasing and melodies, she had richer...
