iTunes Review

This immaculately sequenced album combines elements of classical piano with IDM and ambient in a way that feels curiously effortless. Insides is filled with alluring textures—percussion that crunches like granite and flaps like bird wings, melodies that move like water droplets and crest like sunrise over misty mountaintops. Don't miss the nine-minute "Light Through the Veins," which plays like the soundtrack to a morning spaceship ride over Earth. Hopkins is one of electronic music's most emotive composers—sit back and prepare for liftoff.

I don't entirely agree with the review from iTunes above. I believe this album marks an other great point in Jon's biography, and I have been a fan of his work since the beginning. "The Low Places" is to me the epicenter of this album, and shows how sensitive and brilliant his compositions are. Not as main stream as his previous work, but as deep if not deeper in musical approach.

A Variety of Sounds Worth Enjoying

After seeing Jon open for Royksopp I've come hunting up all his albums :) I love the mix of moody, beautiful melodies and deep in the ribcage bass. There are several styles of music through the album that are favourites of mine and I'm so pleased to find an artist who plays them all!
