A Beautiful New Album

I have seen this band countless times live which means that I have heard these songs before and I am biased. That being said I think this is an exceptional album. Hey Rosetta! plays beautiful rock music. The songs I like the most on this album (as of 4 days since the release) are "Red Heart" and "Black Heart". These tracks are probably the most typical rock songs on the album. They do not have the beautiful building and crescendo that other HR! tracks are known for but they are just too much fun. "Open Arms" really reminds me of the outro to "Lions for Scottie" from the last album (it was an untitled song in the first release of Another Pilot) and is therefore another favourite of mine. It is completely different, very quite at the start and building to a kind of jam session end (the last minute reminds me of older DMB, whether that is good or bad depends on you I guess). “We Made a Pact” is another good track and the first HR! track to have a female voice. Jenn Grant of Halifax adds a beautiful voice to the song and it is just too bad Tim (lead singer and writer) didn’t find a bit more for her to sing. “I’ve Been Asleep....” is very simple in some respects but changes so much throughout that it keeps me replaying it. I could go on and on about each track. For $6.93, there is really no reason not to pick up this album. If you have the chance to see them live, do it, they are great live as well.

Hooked Instantly!

What a brilliantly talented and understated band... Great songs include New Goodbye, Open Arms, Tired Eyes, A Thousand Suns, Psalm.... All the other songs have nothing in them to complain about. A great alternative rock sound, produced by Hawksley Workman, and it actually couldn't get much better than this. It's an album with a great feel, inspiring instrumentals, and vocals which compliment the genre. This album should be on it's way to a major success.

This CD has been playing non-stop in my truck and on my IPOD since I bought it this summer, and everytime I listen to it, I notice another exquisite detail. Lyrics are thoughtful, music is magical and raw at the same time; this is one amazing band. My dream show would be Hey Rosetta and Lucinda Williams at Massey Hall. Can't believe I missed them there in December with HW, the amazing producer of this CD. If you ever have the chance to see them live, GO! Incredible talent!!
