iTunes Review

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ billowing cloud of avant-rock is invaded here by a clutch of disco synths, exploring new areas of tempo, personality and atmosphere for this New York art-punk trio. Guitarist Nick Zinner steers the course with imaginative guitar work, drummer Brian Chase probably hasn’t had this much fun drumming on a record before, and singer Karen O wraps herself in electrical-taped chiffon for disco drag-outs “Zero,” “Heads Will Roll” and “Dragon Queen.” Production from David Sitek (TV On the Radio) and Nick Launay ensure It’s Blitz! is a contemporary affair.

ok well another yeah yeah yeahs album. i first heard of them from the game Rockband. one of their songs was in it and i got hooked immideately. DO NOT BUY THE DELUXE EDITION! it just has acoustic versions and their not that good. the best song on this album in my opinion is Dragon Queen. you will enjoy that one. some of the songs are really sad but theyre the yeah yeah yeahs. its great music.

Great album! Great band!

IMO, the YYYs owe a lot to an 80s punk/new wave band named Siouxie & The Banshees. Less obvious on this album but very much in the earlier ones. Saw the Yeahs live recently and the similarities between the two bands were striking. Karen O looks and sounds very much like Siouxie Sioux. Nevertheless, this is a great band that makes solid music that stands on its own.

why does 'zero' cost $1.29? is it true that itunes is upping their prices?

O met Chase at Ohio's Oberlin College and met Zinner through friends after she transferred to NYU. Zinner and O formed the band in 2000; originally, they were a folky duo called Unitard, but they went electric after being inspired by Ohio's legendary avant punk scene. After the drummer...
