iTunes Review

Keane has come a long way since its beginnings as a small-town English band covering the likes of U2 and Oasis. It’s been four years since the multiplatinum-selling, GRAMMY®-nominated quartet released a full-length (and a few since the dance-inflected EP Night Train). With a new bassist in the fold, Strangeland finds Keane in full-fledged melodic rock mode. Tenderly delivered lyrics sound positive even when they express feelings of dejection (“Silenced by the Night”) or no longer being able to connect with something special (“The Starting Line,” “Disconnected”). Still, Strangeland opens with the rousingly emotional “You Are Young,” as Tom Chaplin’s soaring tenor delivers uplifting sentiments. Those are echoed on the piano-driven ballad “Watch How You Go”: an album highlight that’s bolstered by cooing harmonies. This deluxe version of Strangeland includes four bonus tracks.

God save the Keane!

Just bought the album this morning (I preordered it) , I'm loving it more and more after each listening! I Already knew a couple of songs, and disconnected was my favourite. Then i heard seafog live, and i fell in love. But then i bumped into strangeland, myth, black rain and in your own Time, and i broke the replay button.

Keane are back at what they do best, piano pop rock, and This is exactly the kind of music i love and why i fell in love with Keane in the first place :) I don't care about the mixed reviews in the magazines, for me this album is amazing, i've been waiting a long time for it and i'm not disappointed :)

If you're a fan of Hopes and Fears and UTIS, you will love this album. Go buy it, you won't regret it :)

Welcome Back Keane

Formed in 1997, the group started out as a college-aged cover band. Guitarist Dominic Scott was also part of this early incarnation, having previously played cover songs with Hughes and Rice-Oxley in a band named the Lotus Eaters. Keane toured the East Sussex circuit for several years while internalizing...
