iTunes Review

The Foo Fighters are comfortable expressing angst with distorted guitars and emotionally charged pleading (“But, Honestly”) or with the piano and gentle orchestration of the album’s closing ballad (“Home”). The album’s most surprising and affecting moments are the subdued shades of the whispered forecasts of “Stranger Things Have Happened” and the duet with acoustic guitar virtuoso Kaki King for “Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners.”

A little and a lot

The new album has a little bit of everything and overall is great! The depth of the instrumentals and the lyrics are very impressive, and it really shows the Foo's are experienced and unlike some other bands that I wont mention, actually have tallent, and know how to use it. This album is AWESOME to blare in the car... and has proven to be perfect for an hour long road trip... congratulations to the FF's on another awesome album!

One of The Best Albums by Any Band

When you first begin listening, you will think it's probably Foo's best album to date. Listening further, you will find that this is one of the best albums you've ever heard. I have three songs off this album that are in my top ten favorite songs of all time, and I'm not even a Foo fan. I only downloaded the hits from previous albums. This FULL album is unbelievable, and with time, could easily become my favorite album from any band.

how does he do it?

I listened once. Thought it was ok. Not renough full out rocking. Listened to it again. Eureka! Best album ever. Every song is its own song. NO filler. How does he create beautiful hooks, melodies time after time and make it 'serious' yet incredibly listenable, with just enough ambiguity in the lyrics to make them poetic, not maudlin? Thank you, Foos, for ,making a 47 yr old as giddy as a kid at Christmas every time you create in your artform. guelph, ontario

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

When Foo Fighters released a debut album written and recorded entirely by leader Dave Grohl -- at that point known only as the powerhouse drummer for Nirvana -- in the summer of 1995, few would have guessed that the group would wind up as the one band to survive the '90s alt-rock explosion unscathed. Other bands burned brighter but they flamed out, breaking up after scoring a hit or two, while the Foos steadily racked up success after success, filling stadiums around the world while staying on top...
