Album Review

The Infamous Stringdusters manage to combine enough traditional bluegrass with a jam band sensibility and songs that merge, at their best, into a sharp and lightly progressive acoustic country-rock, and they do all of this by expanding what bluegrass can be rather than abandoning it. The group's fifth studio album, Let It Go, released on the group's own High Country imprint, falls right in line as another fine example of the band's signature and varied sound.

Formed in 2006, and drawing on the talents of then up-and-coming Nashvillians Andy Hall, Chris Eldridge, Chris Pandolfi, Jeremy Garrett, Jesse Cobb, and Travis Book, the Infamous Stringdusters managed to balance a fluency in old-timey bluegrass with indie jamgrass sensibilities. They released their first album, Fork in the Road, on Sugar Hill in early 2007, which resulted in three awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association later that year.
