Hell Ya !!!

Who cares what anybody says about Gwar, they are metal. Their music is over the top and kicks a*s. That's what metal is about.

Easily on par with their last few albums, great! Heavy as ever!

Lust in Space

Once again, GWAR (the lords of the Earth and all of us pitiful human beings) has released a concept album. While it's not as heavy as "Beyond Hell", it does hold its own. The songs, for the most part, have a smoother sound to them, just a bit more refined than the last album. However, it seems to lack a bit of the bite I've heard on many of their other albums. It's almost like a newer "Ragnarok", but with a more uniform feel throughout. The song "Where is Zog?" stands out for me; it's one of the heavier tracks on the album and it feels like GWAR has really hammered on the violent, perverted lyrics. Overall, it's a solid release. If you're already a Bohab, then you're required to buy it (otherwise you might wake up to the unpleasant sight of Oderus standing on your bed, grinning manically and ready to cleave you in half with his sword. Afterwards he'll probably do a number of things to your family and pets that the censors won't let me write in this review). If you're not a Bohab but are interested anyway, it's worth the cash. The bonus song in the downloadable version is certainly an incentive; plus, it's cheaper than going out and buying the CD which has one less song.

GWAR (popularly thought to be an acronym for God What an Awful Racket, despite the band's protests to the contrary) are thrash metal's answer to the more mainstream satire of Spinal Tap. Gory, sexually perverse, and scatological in the extreme, GWAR were formed at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond as an experiment in marketing strategy by several musicians, art students, and dancers. The group claimed to consist of all-powerful interplanetary warriors, descended from aliens stranded in...
