iTunes Editors' Notes

While you could say Courtney Love is Hole, since she is the “group”’s one constant, it is inaccurate since the sound is highly dependent on her songs’ co-writers. This doesn’t mean that the final product isn’t as fascinating as Love’s own tabloid life; it just means that there is an obvious musical variety that comes from other sources. And it’s still Love’s tortured grunge croak snarling over the tunes. Only she could chill your heart with the nasty sweep of the title track, the intense drive of the garage-to arena rock of “Skinny Little Bitch,” and the rough and raw demo, intensity turned full-on, hard-rock attack of the Love-Billy Corgan-Linda Perry co-write “How Dirty Girls Get Clean.” “Honey,” “Pacific Coast Highway” and the raw bonus track “Never Go Hungry” aim towards mid-tempo. “Someone Else’s Bed,”  “For Once In Your Life” and “Letter to God” add up to be retrospective compositions where Love sounds more like a singer-songwriter trying to find her way home. She’s been a tortured, confused soul for years and this album shows those scars brilliantly.

Customer Reviews

If You don't like Courtney Love why are u here reading this?

If you're a fan of Ms. Love and have been waiting, it has been worth the wait. She sounds better here than on Amercia's Sweetheart (which despite what most say, was a good album, she was too messed up to promote it properly). Obviously she's not going to sound the same as 90's Courtney because, oh wow, she AGED! Loved reading her liner notes where she's talks about surrender. She's been through hell and wants to share and I love her for it. Would've loved to get the version of "How dirty Girls Get Clean" I heard a couple years ago on her old website, but I'll take this one too. Welcome back, your true fans have been waiting.

If there are haters lurking around, the whole she murdered Cobain after he wrote Live Through This for her is so f@#$%ng tired, get a new lie to spread already.

Brilliant album!
Nobody's Daughter, Honey, Someone Else's Bed, For Once In Your Life.....the whole album is worth the wait

I brought this because long ago I was a Hole fan, I never expected it be one of the best albums i've ever heard! I suggest you buy this, it's definitly worth the price.

Throughout Hole's career, vocalist/guitarist Courtney Love's notorious public image has overshadowed her band's music. In their original incarnation, Hole was one of the noisiest, most abrasive alternative bands performing in the early '90s. By the time of their second album, 1994's Live Through This, the band had smoothed out many of their rougher edges, also adding more melodies and hooks to their songwriting. Through both versions of Hole, Love's combative, assaultive persona permeated the group's...
