Album Review

Dolores Keane's traditional Celtic music has been called the heart and soul of Ireland. She was born and raised in Caherlistrane, County Galway, Ireland, so her accent and her love for her homeland both come naturally. She began singing at a very early age and later learned to play both the flute and whistle. She has been blessed with a beautiful voice and a long musical career that allows her to do what she loves best. During that career she has performed all over the world, including America, Germany, New Zealand, and even in the Middle East. The title track for this enjoyable 1990 album, Lion in a Cage, holds lyrics that speak about Nelson Mandela's imprisonment in South Africa. Other strong offerings to be found here include "Walking on Seashells," "Across the Bridge," "The Island," and "Happy As a Baby in Your Arms." From start to finish, this is another strong sampling from Dolores Keane.
