Purely Great

If you appreciate an unbelievable voice accompanied by pared down music (guitar, harmonica) get this without hesitation.  These are eleven acoustic renditions performed live by Patrick Park, and they are absolutely marvellous. There are very, very few great singers like this.  His is a voice full of depth and great's a little rugged, and it's flawless.  I'm going to get a little flowery here--but I'd like to drive the point home--so please forgive me:  since there's a musical desert in this "Idol" dominated world, Patrick Park's voice--and musicianship for that matter--is like a longed for drink of simple, pure, quenching water.  He is an immensely talented musician, songwriter and storyteller (this is NOT "emo" music.)  If Patrick wanted to sell out, he could have done it long ago.  My favourite songs are: 'Your Smile's a Drug' (some of the best lyrics ever), 'Bullets By The Door', 'Stay With Me Tomorrow' (really quite incredible), 'Everyone's In Everyone' (this could be a universal anthem), 'Past Poisons', and 'Nothing's Lost.'  Every track is amazing, he's amazing, so I'll just leave it at that.  While this is live and acoustic, it's not a stretch if you know his material.  I have the album "Loneliness Knows My Name" (2003)...not sure why iTunes doesn't offer it (still! This is a re-post of an original review.)  I would highly recommend it, it is so fabulous.  Also, not offered here, but available in iTunes, is 'Something Pretty', which is another truly beautiful, great song.  N.B. This review was originally published in iTunes in 2007 and it has since disappeared (still shows under my reviewer name, all reviews)...I'm guessing some sort of glitch since iTunes went to iTunes+? It's starting to get annoying (3rd time I've discovered this.)  Take or leave reviews as you will, but it matters, yeah? Especially when an artist has few or no listener reviews...anyway, I love great music and am just doing my part to be helpful. Cheers.

Love P.Park!

a poet with a cause!

Born: 1977 in Morrison, CO

Genre: Singer/Songwriter

Years Active: '00s

Raised in the American southwest, singer/songwriter Patrick Park began writing music and playing in bands as a middle-school student. His mother was a published poet and his father was deep-rooted in folk and blues, and the young Park -- whose family lived a stone's throw from the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater -- took inspiration from those parents, eventually developing an folksy, acoustic sound that would later permeate his records. Park opted for a change in his early 20s and ventured out East...
