Customer Reviews

A few gems, but the charm fades too quickly. For good reason.

Adriiana's first iTunes release is an interesting crescendo of bubblegum pop and synth-fueled dance odyssey. What's unfortunate is the album tries to be the dance albums of the past 2 years. I can hear Rihanna, Ke$ha, Carly Rae Jepsen, Selena Gomez, and countless others in the DNA of the album. To be honest if i looked away from the screen and listened i could have sworn this was Selena Gomez. It's playing far too safe with the same monotonous recycled lyrics ("if only we could be together, if only") and the attempt of rehashing Pat Benetar's We Are Young was honestly quite the insult considering the quality and effort even considered in the track. The whole album is absolutely LACED with auto tune as usual. There are some stronger tracks on the album which is quite a shock considering there could have been some quite big singles, yet I've myself never heard of this girl before coming across the album. Dancing in London and Love Alive are actually quite well done considering the rest of the album is droning monotonous robotic filler.

Honourable mentions are Dancing In London and Love Alive and My Life

songs you should take a few listens to before buying are We Are Young, If Only, Mr Wrong and Light Me Up

All in all for a first album this isn't the greatest attempt. It looks as if Wax records had their claws firmly controlling every aspect of the album from start to finish, its far too overdubbed and quirky. Its essentially a "processed cheese" album. While there are one or two stronger tracks on the album, it doesn't hide the fact that it all could have been so much better if Adriiana had been given more control over her work.

Not What I Expected

Adriiana‘s self-titled debut album definitely caters to teens, with her pop-dance sounds and lyrics about love, and being young and carefree. Her single “We Are Young” samples Pat Benatar‘s rock anthem, “Love Is a Battlefield”, which is one of my favourites off the album.

“Dancing in London”, “Love Alive” and “My Life” are perfect tracks for people to dance to, with that “dance like no one’s watching” attitude while her softer tracks, “Mr. Wrong” and “If Only” are great tunes to sit back and relax to.

Overall, the songs will have you dancing and/or head bopping before you know it. It’s no doubt that Adriiana is a star to be, and this album proved it!
