iTunes Review

The Kings of ‘80s heavy metal release their first-ever live album and it’s packed with just about every song that made them a household name. Def Lep were known as an impeccable studio band who labored for months to perfect each track. Yet this live album proves the band can reproduce it on stage. Songs from High ‘n’ Dry, Pyromania, Hysteria, Adrenalize and Songs From the Sparkle Lounge combine for a magical force. “Bringing On the Heartbreak” proves everyone in the audience knows the song from beginning to end. David Essex’s spooky tune “Rock On” retains its Def Lep flavor. Singer Joe Elliot brings his bloodcurdling howl for “Foolin’,” “Too Late for Love,” “Rock of Ages” and “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” The album finishes with three new studio tracks. “Kings of the World” is a powerful, dynamic tune centered at the piano before building to its climax. “It’s All About Believin’” features more of the classic Def Lep sound. Great songs and performances throughout.

Where's their other stuff?

Good but where is the rest of the Def Leppard catalogue? Like their full length albums! Come on!

No Songs From "On Through The Night"

Their North American debut album was their best and they never play any songs live from the disc. It's a shame because thpse songs rocked.

A little late...

Well, you've got a nice little package here, with photos, couple short videos, and a couple new songs, but for anyone who has followed the band for 20 years, there are probably more satisfying bootlegs from shows back in the 80s and 90s, with a few songs that are a little more daring. I would have liked to see a few less mainstream songs like Let It Go, Mirror Mirror, Gods of War or Action! Not Words, (Which I have bootlegs of for 10 years already anyway...) alas, it is mostly the same songs they have been touring with for the past 8 years. However, for a group with over 100 songs to their credit, maybe I'm asking too much.

Formed: 1977 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

In many ways, Def Leppard were the definitive hard rock band of the '80s. There were many bands that rocked harder (and were more dangerous) than the Sheffield-based quintet, but few others captured the spirit of the times quite as well. Emerging in the late '70s as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Def Leppard actually owed more to the glam rock and metal of the early '70s, as their sound was equal parts T. Rex, Mott the Hoople, Queen, and Led Zeppelin. By toning down their heavy riffs...
