Album Review

Say what you will about the lads in Trigger the Bloodshed, but they waste very little time getting down to business on their 2008 debut, Purgation, which specializes in the same extreme metal sound that was trailblazed by bands like Napalm Death (a group with whom Trigger have actually toured). Almost immediately after pressing play on your preferred music-listening apparatus, you'll be hit head-on with blastbeats, guttural growls, screams, and razor-sharp and precise high-tech riffing. Looking for musical variety? You've come to the wrong place, folks, as Purgation is a steady sonic avalanche of the aforementioned sound and approach, as evidenced by such brutal and anti-tuneful ditties as "Merciless Ignorance," "Rebirth," and "Mortuary Walls," among countless others. Purgation is one big album of ugly.
