Editors’ Notes

Mirage was a crucial stepping-stone in Armin van Buuren's journey from EDM superstar to all-conquering force. Trance's high-energy pulses and sleek chord progressions remain his bedrock here, but the vocal-heavy album extends his horizons beyond dance music's limits. "Take a Moment", featuring Winter Kills, is equally uplifting in the stadium and on the car stereo; Nadia Ali helps turn "Feels So Good" into a saucy electro-disco romp; and Sophie Ellis Bextor and Owl City push van Buuren's beats to new emotive heights.

What happened?

Well, this sure as hell doesn't compare to Imagine, let alone Shivers. His sound went so commercial on this one that I think he's on his way to becoming a sell-out just like Tiesto. Please don't do that, Armin! I mean, c'mon! You saw how everyone reacted when Tiesto put out Kaleidoscope... his fans weren't too happy. Well, I'm a fan of AvB and I'm not very satisfied with this album.

That aside, some songs are quite good but the album as a whole isn't. I really like This Light Between Us (only because I LOVE Christian Burns' voice), These Silent Hearts (because any collab with BT is bound to be amazing), Virtual Friend & Not Giving Up On Love. Everything else is meh.

PS. Sorry Armin, but Mirage and Full Focus (especially!) annoy the hell outta me! I don't know why, I just can't stand the 2 of them. But that's just my opinion, I guess.

Everyone criticized tiesto for selling out with his kaleidoscope album, but at least that was catchy. This was an unoriginal, uncatchy album. I feel many of those who are beginner producers could have made an album such as this. Nothing blew me away. I gave it two stars only because of armin van buuren's past. I gave him the benefit of doubt. I'm surprised he's been voted number one so many times. Hopefully his next artist album will be better. this one put me to sleep at times.

Mirage is an incredible album. From start to finish, it demonstrates why Armin van Buuren was voted number one dj in the world. All the tracks are perfect, catchy and groovy. The music goes on a wide variety of styles. Sometimes slow, sometimes emotional, sometimes upbeat; Mirage does it all! Great job!
My personal favourite is Drowning. That's the best dance song on the album in my opinion!
Oh... and the album cover... Niiiiice! :)
