Album Review

Mudvayne's self-titled album is slightly heavier than 2008's The New Game, but it still features songs that sound like a combination of Linkin Park and Tool — churning basslines, the occasional tribal-inspired rhythm, angsty roaring, and crooned choruses. However, there are some surprises on Mudvayne, like a surprisingly Slash-like guitar solo on "Closer" and the death metal intro to the Slipknot-esque "I Can't Wait," which recalls Mudvayne of old, moving in the direction of progressive rock while remaining extremely heavy.

Awesome!!!

Awesome!!! Mudvayne continues to do it again. Both heavy and soft. Recommend for any true metal head.

Heavier like older stuff but maintains newer hard rock melodies

This is a really good album, the riffage is really different and alot more intense. Many of the songs feature chad going all out with the screaming and its epic. The album is still however graced with more melodic passages which provide change, and interludes are featured throughout to provide breathing between brutal tracks. Highlights for me were, 1000 Mile Journey, I can't wait, and Dead Inside, which is a really well done softer outro to the album. Beautiful and Strange is also a really powerful and brutal intro, the double pedal intro is especially nice.

Amazing

Another amazing album from Mudvayne. They have got to be one of the better groups out there, they have just the right mixture of hardcore and softer music. I love them, hope they don't loose their edge.
