Editors’ Notes

With both topical and random material that’s as funny as his cartoonish, helium-toned voice, Aziz Ansari sets his laugh bar even higher with 2012’s Dangerously Delicious. Self-heckling comes naturally to Ansari, as do his observations of others’ public stupidity. He opens by talking about how dumb, entitled people will take flash photos regardless of house rules that ask otherwise—and then offers a compromise by posing like he’s in the middle of telling a joke so those people can get their photo-taking out of the way before he starts his show. He then goes into sidesplitting bits about New York City's dating perils. The amount of hilarious material on dating-fails alone takes up a fourth of Dangerously Delicious. Other laugh-out-loud moments involve his comparing comedy tours with those of rock band Mötley Crüe and the continued antics of his chubby young cousin Harris. And being well aware that his fans love his observations about spending time with hip-hop and R&B luminaries, Ansari dishes hard on 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and R. Kelly.

Ansari shot to fame in the mid- to late 2000s as a member of the three-person comedy troupe responsible for The Human Giant -- a weekly, SNL-style collection of outrageous and irreverent comedy sketches that the group wrote and performed on MTV. Ansari is -- like Jay Chandrasekhar and a few other comics to emerge...
