A master takes her time...

Holly has always had her own unique way, from 'Girl Talk's' thundering potential, she's always delivered with precisian and a promise of things to come. She crossed over to pop effortlessly with 'Dark dear Heart' and I was left hoping for more yet torn by my want for more of her jazz fine tunings. Only Holly Cole could deliver an entire album of Tom Waits compositions with no need to blush. 'Temptation' was an album that offered a songwriting stylized genius covered by a vocal artisan who understands her tool and musicianship to the core (parred only by Meshell Ndegeocello's 'A Tribute To Nina Simone')
'Night' calls on all of Holly's musical endeavours. Her interpretation is so profound she can truly introduce you to a song all over again. Honestly, how do you present 'I Only Have Eyes For You', again? Hear it for yourself on this album! One of the finest songs ever written is Gordon Lightfoot's 'If You Could Read My Mind' (also Canadian! Yeah!) Holly has approached it, slowly, with the uttermost reverence and heart. My only criticism of 'Night' is Ms. Cole making me like 'Viva Las Vegas'!? I believe that Holly Cole is arguably the best and most underrated stylist of our century. Bar none.

Holly Cole is a Canadian treasure. She never fails to bring it. Seeing her live in concert is even better.

I've heard the Bond track "You only live twice" on radio and it sounds incredible..perfect timing for the anniversary of JAMES BOND!
It's been a while since Holly put out a new record and it was well worth the wait, NIGHT is an incredible record!

Canadian vocalist Holly Cole isn't one of those artists who falls into any one category. Her smoky voice is sultry, yet she's ironically humorous and candid while reshaping traditional standards and pop classics. Jazz is her bedrock, but not exclusively. Cole was a New Year's baby born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1963. She was surrounded by music from an early age, for her parents were both classical musicians. As a kid, she immersed herself in pop music and classic rock & roll. Everyone in her...
