iTunes Editors' Notes

Ne-Yo is a musical triple-threat; singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in Arkansas and raised in Las Vegas, he spent many years grinding and paying dues before getting his big break in the mid-2000s, when he wrote the hit "Let Me Love You" for Mario, topping the charts for over two months. Signed by Jay-Z to Def Jam, his 2006 debut album In My Own Words spawned several huge singles, hit number one, and went platinum. Because of You and Year of the Gentleman followed setting the stage for this, his fourth album. Where his earlier releases were pretty much straight modern R&B, Libra Scale is a conceptual piece, centering on three men who must choose between true love vs. money/power/fame, while also paying homage to one of his biggest influences, the late great Michael Jackson. Produced by StarGate, Ryan Leslie, and others, it is his most interesting work to date, with unique story lines, highly danceable beats, and dominant vocals. Check out "Know Your Name," "Crazy Love," and "Beautiful Monster."

Weak

Easily his weakest album to date with no substance nor quality of his previous work. People say usher is a mj wanna be but this ne yo work just spells out mj copy cat from his vocal style to music videos. Go back to so sick and miss independent days breh

Disappointing

I used to love Ne-Yo's music but this album is nothing compared to his previous albums especially the year of gentlemen. This album is totally disappointing.

One of the best albums

It's been a long time coming where the whole album sounds good. Every song is quality. Totally recommend this album to anyone who likes good vocals, good lyrical content, good concepts, ... just good music.

Ne-Yo was one of the most successful songwriters and artists of the 2000s. His breakthrough didn't come until late 2004, as the co-songwriter of Mario's "Let Me Love You," a number one Hot 100 hit that Billboard later determined to be the eighth most successful single of the decade. By the close of 2009, however, Ne-Yo had racked up a career's worth of accomplishments. He released three albums, all of which went platinum in the United States. Seven of his singles, as well as five on which he appeared...
