iTunes Review

Half of this album contains George Martin’s lush score for the animated film, and the other half contains the title track (originally released on Revolver), as well as two Eastern-tinged George Harrison numbers (“Only a Northern Song” and “It’s All Too Much”). Lennon’s rumbling “Hey Bulldog,” and the infectious “All Together Now” also add colourful touches that fit in with the animated film’s enduring legacy.

Yellow Submarine

OK, so some of the songs are re-hashed, and half of the album are orchestrations, big deal! It's still a piece of Beatles history, and another ground-breaking film, no cartoon has ever been done this way before.

Get The Beatles complete catalogue, and listen to how they matured and evolved and will always be the best band in the world...

Not necessary for your collection

Unless you have a serious interest in George Martin's score, it would be best to overlook this album. Instead purchase the tracks "Only a Northern Song," "All Together Now," "Hey Bulldog," and "It's All Too Much;" the latter two songs, as one reviewer put it, are underrated gems. The title track and "All You Need is Love" can be purchased from Revolver and Sgt. Pepper respectively.

Don't need the whole thing

You can buy all together now, all too much, only a northern song, and hey bulldog as individual songs because half are orchestral pieces and all you need is love and yellow submarine are on other albums.

So much has been said and written about the Beatles -- and their story is so mythic in its sweep -- that it's difficult to summarize their career without restating clichés that have already been digested by tens of millions of rock fans. To start with the obvious, they were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. Moreover, they were among the few artists of any discipline that were simultaneously...
