Album Review

Trapt is back with their third studio opus titled "Only Through the Pain." With alternative flair on cuts like "Who's Going Home with You Tonight?" and "Black Rose" the band plays well to the genre. The slickly produced "Ready When You Are" is a radio-ready hit. The tune boasts an infectious chorus while guitar nuances interplay nicely. When Trapt plays to their strengths you can hear a '70s vibe as in "Forget About the Rain" and when they rock - it comes out nicely as heard in"Cover Up." The disc boasts earthy guitar tones that liven the palette, via the production of Garth Atreyu (L7, Rage Against the Machine). With "Only Through the Pain," Trapt mixes together several levels of modern rock; whether it's touching on a funky groove or laying out the rock, the band sounds poised to hit the next level.

Customer Reviews

One of the best albums of 2008!!

With several records already under their belt, Trapt delivers & scores with their latest album "Only Through The Pain". They successfully started the album off right with a great first single "Who's Going Home With You Tonight?" and continue to pump out future hits with songs such as "Contagious", "Ready When You Are", "Curiousity Kills", & "Black Rose". There really isn't a bad song on this record. I highly recommend you pick this album up, you won't be disappointed. Lead singer Chris Taylor Brown wrote this record while going through the different emmotions of life and realizing that the pain is needed to be experienced, not avoided, in order to live life to it's fullest. These journeys greatly apply to everyone and you will find yourself realizing the similarities lyrically to your own experiences. Trapt also adds to the mix, a new member who is talented beyond words. Former guitarist, Simon, departed and made room for Robb Torres to share his talent with the band and fans alike.

School chums Chris Brown and Peter Charell absorbed the heavy rock sound of Korn, Soundgarden, and Metallica during the mid-'90s. Both were music geeks and naturally flirted with the idea of getting a group together. Casual gigs in school motivated them even more, leaving Brown and Charell to design what would become Trapt. In 1997, fellow guitarist Simon Ormandy joined the band. The trio recorded its own demo and landed gigs in and around the suburbs of...
