Green Day is finally back! (i actually give it a 4 1/2 stars)

If you approach your adventure of listening to 21st Century Breakdown with the following mentality: "I loved American Idiot so I'm gonna love this" and also expecting to be better than American Idiot, you will be disapointed. The new 2009 Green Day album is completely different than their previous very succesful, American Idiot. More piano, a couple love songs and really only one very politically fueled track, being 21st Century Breakdown. To really enjoy the story that the 18 tracks tell us, you have to listen to them in order. Song of the Century really sets the tone to the album. There is a lot of diversity, you can go from a song like Viva la Gloria to Peacemaker (both good songs). I would have to say my favourite songs are: 21st Century Breakdown, Before the Lombotomy, Peacemaker and 21 Guns. But I could have easily named every single song So ya I could go on forever on this album. Really what I wanted people to know not to listen to this album in a "American Idiot mentality" if you know what i mean. They are both epic albums in their own ways. Enjoy!!!! Glad to see this at the top of iTunes most popular albums. PS: Fantastic job by Tre on the drums for the bonus track by The Who!

You guys are sad

This album is a work of art. You guys have probably not listened to most of these songs. Peacemaker, 21 guns, Viva la Gloria, Before the Lobotomy, Murder City are all great songs. Green Day did a great job on this album and I'm surprised they aren't getting the attention they deserve.

Album of the Year!

Easily the best album this year, and the best Green Day has ever done. What a great summer we will have blasting this one!

Biography

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Out of all the post-Nirvana alternative bands to break into the pop mainstream, Green Day were second only to Pearl Jam in terms of influence. At their core, Green Day were simply punk revivalists who recharged the energy of speedy, catchy three-chord punk-pop songs. Though their music wasn't particularly innovative, they brought the sound of late-'70s punk to a new, younger generation with Dookie, their 1994 major-label debut. Dookie sold over ten million copies, paving the way for a string of multi-platinum...
