Boldly billed as La Nueva Voz del Flamenco, Spanish vocalist Pitingo made his full-length album debut with Pitingo con Habichuelas. Released in 2006 on the Universal Music label, the 11-track album includes a bunch of collaborations, most notably contributions from legendary flamenco guitarists Pepe Habichuela and Juan Habichuela. Pitingo con Habichuelas was hailed for its fusion of flamenco and soul music, a fairly original style that the vocalist would further explore on the smash hit follow-up Soulería (2008).

Pitingo is a charismatic singer from Spain whose musical style is a fusion of the high-wrought copla style of flamenco vocals with the smooth musical tropes of soul/R&B. His second album, Soulería (2008), a Spanish-language collection of well-known cover songs, propelled him to Top Ten success in his homeland.
