Good Album, just not as epic as I was hoping for

I am a huge Prince of Persia fan and was expecting huge things from the soundtrack for the film, however I am disappointed to say that Harry Gregson-Williams has lost something from the transition to a film score for the series. There are some great tracks here such as 'The Prince of Persia', 'The Sands of Time', 'No Ordinary Dagger', 'Visions of Death' and 'The Oasis Ambush'. However ever since the soundtrack for X-men Origins: Wolverine I have found it hard to enjoy this man's work. I don't know what happened, but it lost the amazing sounds that permeated the Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, 4 and the two Narnia soundtracks that made them so fun and enjoyable. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time does recapture a good chunk of the magic of Harry Gregson-Williams' work, but it is not in the upper echelons of his work. This is not an awful album by any stretch, it just didn't hold the same epic feel that the game soundtracks (at least the Sands of Time and Two Thrones) had. To be completely honest my favourite track is 'I Remain' by Alanis Morissette as it seems to grab onto the whole feel of the game series. Overall a decent soundtrack that was just missing the extra oomph to drive it into my personal favourites. There are a lot of decent tracks, but it is just missing the feel of the games however I am glad to say it is closer to the awesome Narnia soundtracks then the lackluster Wolverine one.
