Believe the Hype

Feel free to use the cliché, "The hardest working band in show business" because it's true. Shiny Toy Guns are perhaps the best thing to happen to someone who grew up on Depeche Mode, New Order, and Pet Shop Boys. If you look past the impossibly young age of the band you'll be treated to the catchiest synth-pop-rock album of 2006. We Are Pilots is far from a guilty-pleasure, mind you, it's a refreshing take on the Killers-clone acts that have surfaced since Hot Fuss. The one negative to this album released on Universal Records is that it leans a tad towards over-production. The original We Are Pilots gets 5-stars. Call it formula, call it euro, call it anything you want. This album will save your soul from a year of radio mediocrity.

Shiny Toy Guns - the shine caught my eye

Shiny Toy Guns is an American electronica/New Wave/indie/synthpop band from Los Angeles, California that was founded in 2002. I heard of them when they were playing on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" and I automatically knew I wanted to buy their album. Amazing lryics, great beat, great sound, very cool vocals. Gregori Chad Petree – guitar, vocals Carah Faye Charnow – vocals Jeremy Dawson – synthesizer, bass Mikey Martin – drums Carah Faye has a very unique voice, infact, In 2006 it was speculated by several websites that Carah was actually the voice heard on Paris Hilton's debut album. Listen to "We are Pilots" and then to Paris' song "Stars" and hear the similarities, makes you wonder if Paris deserves any credit for anything she has taken credit for. Another artist Carah sounds similar too (only in one song), which I found almost exact, is Neko Case. Listen to "Don't Cry Out" - Shiny Toy Guns and then listen to "Letter from an Occupant" - The new Pornographers. Hard to tell the differnce. I'm not trying to hint anything, both Carah and Neko are amazing artist and deserve credit for their own works. Currently the band is touring the United States. They are about to embark on a two month tour of Europe, the tour starts Feb. 10th. The third and final version of We Are Pilots was released by their label on October 17, 2006. If your looking for a cool new sound, and a very addictive sound, buy this album, you will not be able to stop listening to it.

Rockin' out!

Hah, I loved this album! ^^ I really liked.. Le Disko and Don't cry out. Those were 2 very cool songs.

Formed: December, 2002 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Although formed in sunny California during the early 2000s, Shiny Toy Guns' music flaunts a sleek, '80s-influenced combination of synth-pop and electro-clash. Founded in 2001 by bassist/keyboardist Jeremy Dawson and guitarist/vocalist Gregori Chad Petree -- both natives of central Oklahoma -- the band's lineup was fully realized with the addition of vocalist Carah Faye Charnow (who was brought aboard in 2004 to replace the departing Ursula Vari) and drummer Mikey Martin. After building a local following...
