Album Review

Swapping his earlier African and reggae influences for a more funk-led sound, TSOL is the third album from Kenyan-Canadian rapper Shadrach Kabango. Produced by the likes of DJ T Lo, Classified, and Ric Notes, the 2010 follow-up to The Old Prince features 13 socially conscious hip-hop tracks that draw comparisons with the likes of Common and Talib Kweli. Featuring the singles "Rose Garden," "We, Myself, and I," and "Yaa I Get It," his second release through Black Box Recordings also includes collaborations with singer/songwriter Justin Nozuka, Reverie Sound Revue lead vocalist Lisa Lobsinger, and Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

If your into canadian hip-hop shad is for you, best work yet i love this album!

Completely in Awe!

This album is so good, I can't even begin to descibe it! I mean this is what rap is all about! Shad just kills it with his technical verses that I would never even be able to think of, let alone out them into a verse that flows and has meaning to it. These aren't your average "I get money", "I get women", "I smoke weed" rhymes either; they all have depth to them and even as I listen to some songs for the 20th time (literally the play count on most of the songs on TSOL is over 20) I'm still getting new things from it and figuring another angle to see song lyrics at. The songs are catchy as hell too and I just can't get them out of my head. I garentee that as long as you like rap, you will truly LOVE this album! I could go on and on but I will just leave the rest up to you.

I really appreciate shad's musical talent, he doesn't need to swear or use auto tune to make great, enjoyable rap. Shad keeps it clean not only for people who enjoy rap but for everyone. kanye and eminem, can make good rap but really how much of that can you play in the car on a family trip. Shad should be canada's number one hip-hop/rap artist! his content is simply amazing!
