iTunes Review

Fueled by social injustice and a changing of the guard, Run the Jewels claps back with both mics blazing. 3 boils over with ruthless disses, thunderous bass, and pinpoint scratches. The guest list is thick. Kamasi Washington adds mournful horn. Zack de la Rocha returns with a 16-bar salute. Trina, Danny Brown, Tunde Adebimpe, and BOOTS join the (revolutionary) party. On “A Report to the Shareholders,” Killer Mike recounts his time running through the election-year minefield as a social and political activist.

Hip Hop Ain't Dead.. Yet

As a fan who grew up during hip hop's golden era, I've been critical of the genre and of the commercialized direction it's taken.. Thankfully, every now and then, albums like these come along and remind me that its essence is alive and well. This is a solid production from start to finish that takes a militant stance towards social justice via its solid MC'ing, especially through Killer Mike and in Zack De La Rocha's cameo. It has the zeal of an early 90's production with a new school flair, especially in its solid beat making. This is a banger! Well done boys.
