iTunes Review

On their third album, Avenged Sevenfold abandon the brutalizing sounds of their previous records to mine the melodic metal of their heroes. Vocalist M. Shadows soars above The Rev’s blitzkrieg drumming and Synyster Gates’ blazing guitar leads, trading in his scream for a Chris Cornell-style approach on standout track “Seize the Day.” City of Evil is epic in scope, drawing on weighty tomes like the Book of Revelation for lyrical inspiration. Over the course of its 72 minutes, Avenged Sevenfold never falter.

One Of The Best Albums Recorded

Simply amazing. All the talent that the 5 guys (esp M. Shadows who has voided this of screaming) put into this record is so exhillerating. It makes your heart pump to max with all the energy that's packed in! Almost all the songs are equal in greatness. Some may start out instrumental and down tempo, but just wait until a minute in and they are just as amazing. Definately buy this album, but if you only want to buy some songs, Beast And The Harlot, Bat Country, Trashed And Scattered, Seize The Day and Strength Of The World are a MUST. They are not only great songs, but can help you understand what the whole record is about. Stories.

This is easily one of the best CD's of 2005. It has great guitar solos, awesome melodies, and also M. Shadows has stopped the screaming from previous albums. An absolutely wonderful CD that I have still never gotten tired of listening to yet! One of the few problems is that sometimes M. Shadows starts to sing a bit too softly and well....nicely sometimes. However, that barely detracts from the great experience this CD offers! One of my favourites is Bat Country, Beast and the Harlot, and Burn It Down!!! GET THIS CD AS SOON AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!

City of Evil

wow, thats realy all i can say, this is easily avenged sevenfolds most solid effort yet. Hands down one of the best albums of the year, however it unfortunately went a little under the radar compared to some of those cookie cutter pop albums. All in all though, i would HIGHLY recommend this album, and if you dont want to buy the whole thing, some songs i would recommened are bat country, beast and the harlot, burn it down, trashed and scattered or seize th day.

One of the more successful and accessible metalcore outfits to come out of the early 2000s, Avenged Sevenfold endured changes both stylistic and internal during their rise from teenage troublemakers to mainstream success story. The members of Avenged Sevenfold (or A7X) were still attending high school in Huntington Beach, California when they formed their band in 1999. Nevertheless, it didn't take long for M. Shadows (vocals), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Synyster Gates (guitar), the Reverend (drums),...
