iTunes Editors' Notes

With Throwing Copper, Live offered a sophomore album that further established them among one of the most successful groups of '90s alternative radio. With a pair of huge hits ("Lightning Crashes", "I Alone"), the band's follow-up to its 1991 breakthrough, Mental Jewelry, was packed with hooks, grungy guitars and driving choruses. Singer and primary songwriter Ed Kowalczyk really stretches out on some of the album's deeper cuts, like the nearly 7-minute "Pilar of Davidson" and explosive "“White, Discussion."

Customer Reviews

best album ever

Okay, this album is the best because it's from the 90s so anyone who is into 90's you'll love it. Also, the lyrics are interesting, you'll want to try and learn them. For me, my bro and sis this album is a tradition when we travel to our summer cabin 16 hours. It's over-the-top.

Review

A solid album. Passionate. Very iconic and telling of that time (90's). My favorite of all of their albums to date.

One of my fav's

Let's just say there aren't any "bad" songs on this entire album. It's one of those discs that you can play, sit back, enjoy and sing along. The lyrics are really well written, they actually make you want to listen to them, and Live's "sound" on this album makes you never really get tired of playing it. The only song I don't really care for is the hidden one but hey, it's a bonus one so who cares! Do yourself a favour and get the entire album, or get it for somebody else. You won't regret it!

Live rose to success on the strength of its anthemic music and idealistic, overtly spiritual songwriting, two hallmarks that earned the group frequent comparisons to U2. The group's roots stretched back to the early '80s, when future members Chad Taylor (guitar), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass), and Chad Gracey (drums) began playing together under the name "First Aid" while attending middle school in York, Pennsylvania. After losing an area talent contest,...
