Angel y Khriz’s sophomore release signaled reggaeton’s evolution from underground phenomenon to pan-Latin obsession. Sure, the album has plenty of bangers set to the ubiquitous dembow riddim—and the duo proves their spitfire chops there—but it also gleefully ventures far beyond Puerto Rico’s shores for inspiration. The duo rubs shoulders with Colombian folk on “La Vecina” and bumps hips with salsa and vallenato on “Tu Aroma.” They even get romantic on “Carita de Ángel,” a thrilling development that proved the genre’s hitherto unsuspected flexibility.
