Customer Reviews

I have to admit this album takes a few listens to truely understand how awesome it is!! The vocals, melodies and arrangements are simply fantastic. Of course this album sounds nothing like previous Silverchair albums and that is what I like so much about it. Don't get me wrong - I loved Frogstomp and Diorama but if a band can't challenge the listener then they are obviously not growing as musicians. Silverchair has definately grown and it's clear on this record. Every song is perfect!

Great Album.

People like to go on and on about how Silverchair's best album was Frogstomp. If someone ever tells you that, please, ignore them. This album is great, and musicially challenging. You can tell he's been listening to a lot of Beatles. (and not The Arcade Fire, as another reviewer postulated). I think every album Daniel has wrote is a constant progression. If he had put out the same album like Nickelback does, I would have stopped listening after the second CD.

The Truth

Yeah this is a far cry from Frogstomp, but damn is Straight Lines a MONSTER track. Only once in 5 years does a song like this get pulled out of the air and written. The rest of the album as expected does not come close to this tune. I don't hate the band because of it though. I could only wish to have written one of the great songs Dan(iel) Johns has written (Pure Massacre,Freak,Miss You,The Greatest View,STRAIGHT LINES). If your new to Silverchair by the song. If your a fan buy the album, and if you claim your a fan but it's not Frogstomp, Good Charlotte has a new release. (Actually not bad)!!!

Silverchair quickly rose to international stardom in 1995 by mining a mix of Nirvana and Pearl Jam on their debut album, Frogstomp. Buoyed by the angst-ridden single "Tomorrow," Frogstomp topped the Australian charts and cracked the Top Ten in America, making Silverchair the first Australian act since INXS to enjoy such success in the States. The three bandmates gained just as much recognition for their age; at the time Frogstomp was recorded, they were all 15 years old. Although grunge's popularity...
