iTunes Editors' Notes

The first album from The Neighbourhood, I Love You., is moody, slyly ambitious, instantly gripping, and full of forward momentum. This patchwork of pop, R&B, rock, and hip-hop dares you to imagine what Justin Timberlake might sound like fronting a latter-day Depeche Mode (“Let It Go”), or how trip-hop could have evolved in the 21st century (“Female Robbery”). When singer Jesse Rutherford channels the heartbroken anguish of Bono on “Sweater Weather,” there’s enough star quality hanging in the air to fog your windshield. But what’s most impressive about the debut is its ability to confidently fuse elements echoing art rock and downtempo hip-hop.
