Essential

An essential album to have in any jazz collection.

Life changing

Upon first encountering "Take Five" at the age of 12, I was instantly intrigued. Growing up with a steady diet of top 40 pop music, here was something I have never heard. It was instantly accessible like pop, but immensely more satisfying to listen to. Fun and playful, it shattered my preconceived (and somewhat limited) ideas of jazz music. From that time on it has remained at the forefront of my music collection and I keep buying the album from every format transition (8 track - cassette - vinyl - CD).

Thank you Mr. Brubeck for altering my music-listening trajectory.
