Customer Reviews

Absolute perfection.

There really is nothing but praise for such an album. Powerful vocal and lyrics, not to mention composition and style. Just listen to "Baby Can I Hold You" and you will be sold. This is a must have album for any true music lover.

Amazing

Every song on this album is fantastic. Each and every one filled to the brim with emotion. My personal favourite is Fast Car, but I'm sure you'll enjoy each one.

Who reads Tracy Chapman reviews for songs that are over 20 years old?

I first heard this song when my Dad purchased a CD player for something like $400. It was 1989 I believe and most people still didn't have a CD player. We were not wealthy at all, but my dad really liked music. This was the only song I listened to on the album, over and over again, and at that time, it sounded like haunted magic. I thought my brother had inherited the CD after our dad died, but I have no idea where it went, otherwise I would have just ripped it. So I just purchased the only song I liked off that album. It's pretty good... probably worth $1.29.

At the time of her first album, there were only a handful of artists performing such a style successfully, and her...
