Solid album!

If there was any doubt, the Pumpkins are definitely back with this album.


Amazing album, with some really strong songs. I'm not a huge fan of the synthesizer, but I feel like this album is an expression of Billy right now in his life. So obviously the music and lyrics will be different then the past albums. He tried to make an album that sounded like his albums from the 90s, and it was Zeitgest. Biggest downside to this album is that it came out seven months after it was finished ;)

Of all the major alternative rock bands of the early '90s, the Smashing Pumpkins were the group least influenced by traditional underground rock. Lead guitarist/songwriter Billy Corgan fashioned an amalgam of progressive rock, heavy metal, goth rock, psychedelia, and dream pop, creating a layered, powerful sound driven by swirling, distorted guitars. Corgan was wise enough to exploit his angst-ridden lyrics, yet he never shied away from rock star posturing, even if he did cloak it in allegedly ironic...
