iTunes Review

This is the deluxe version of Immortal, a remix album of Michael Jackson's music. It's considered the soundtrack to Cirque du Soleil's show Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, which debuted in Montreal in 2011; it travels the world and has a specially tailored permanent showcase in Las Vegas. Producer Kevin Antunes (Justin Timberlake, Rihanna) redesigned Jackson's catalog to fit this new performance, with an alternate version of The Jackson 5's "ABC" settling inside "The Jackson 5 Medley" (which also includes "I Want You Back" and "The Love You Save"). Antunes respects the material, and while he mashes up the tunes into current styles, he's also well aware of the original songs' charms and leaves the hooks in there to do what Michael intended them to do. Everything from Michael's first No. 1 solo hit, "Ben" (with extra percussion, vocals, and orchestration to heighten the drama), to his post–Quincy Jones latter-day work is fair game for reinvention. Even Jackson's 1984 hit "State of Shock" with Mick Jagger gets an extra shot of rhythm and blues.

"New" Album?

Even if you aren't a hardcore MJ fan you've probably heard (or own) most of this album already. MJJ productions expects people to buy an album of shortened MJ remixes? Don't get me wrong, I love MJ's music - but this is obviously a cash grab.

Don't ask us to buy songs we already own. Most importantly, leave Michael's art alone, and let his work be remembered in its best form, not this.

If you like this - then see the show

I was not a huge Jackson fan but liked some of his best songs like Thriller, Beat It, Black and White. So recently, when the Cirque de Soleil show Michael Jackson - Immortal came to town, I went and saw this show. The show was mind boggling and worth every penny to see it. And now the sound track to the show is out. This is amazing music. So, if you like this album, go and see the show. You will NOT be disappointed.

We love you M.J , you were gone too soon. I remember where I was when I heard he was gone.
Buy the album, this man is still living in spirit, you can feel it! King of Pop and King of everything.

Michael Jackson wasn't merely the biggest pop star of his era, shaping the sound and style of the '70s and '80s; he was one of the defining stars of the 20th century, a musician who changed the contours of American culture. A preternaturally gifted singer and dancer, Jackson first rose to stardom in 1969 as the 11-year-old frontman for his family's band, the Jackson 5. As remarkable a run as the Jackson 5 had -- at the dawn of the '70s, each of their first four singles went to number one and they...
