iTunes Review

Adam Young continues his pop ascent, while maintaining his emotional sentimentality, on his fourth album. This time he's got company. Carly Rae Jespen joins for a duet on the sparkling single "Good Time." High-powered production team Stargate is recruited on the modern pop confection "Shooting Star" while Blink-182's Mark Hoppus helps craft the harder-rocking edge of "Dementia." This may mark the first time Young has worked with outside help, but the uplifting, oft-romantic nature of his songwriting remains the main attraction here.

Embers are escaping

Its new, completely new. As a hard core owl city fan, I can't help but be disappointed. Where did all of the light harded fuzzy electronica music go. You traded it all in for pop music superstardom. Yeah because you changed your sound, it #1 on iTunes, but where is old quirky introspective Adam? It's been washed away in a sea of repetitive chorus and ooohh's. You were what got me through hard times, you had a loyal fan base, so your changing your sound to reach more people. I respect artist decisions, but this is too much. Please, can we have our quirky back?

What happened to owl city?

Ocean eyes and all things bright and beautiful were original and catchy. Now youve gone and turned into a normal non original artist. This album you should stay away from if you're an owl city fan like me. Please go back to the way you were before Adam.

Sorry .

I'm sorry to say, the only similarity between this and the original Owl City is Adam Youngs voice. I listen to Owl City because of how original and different it is! I miss the arrangement of different beats between the songs, the nice friendly electronic sound, and all the amazing lyrics, but now they've been replaced with normal pop choruses that you've heard before. And for goodness sake the whole album is the same tempo except for silhouette! I usually respect it when artists change their sound, but it has to be done well, and this could have been better. I still have hope for you Owl City, maybe the next one will be more original.

Owl City is the musical brainchild of Adam Young, who launched the project in 2007 while living at his parents' home in Owatonna, Minnesota. Troubled by insomnia, Young began spending his evenings in the household basement, where a computer and several instruments provided a diversion from his sleeping patterns. He eventually combined those diversions into a blend of electronica and emo-pop, using little more than his computer and various keyboards to record the material. Songs were uploaded to MySpace...
