Pop? Since when?

Genre: Pop? I think not. That's an insult right there, that is. Phantom of the Opera is just that; opera. Not that kind of "high" opera where the fat ladies always sing awful soprano, but good, listenable opera. I believe someone said that Phantom of the Opera was really, "rock 'n' roll masquerading as opera," and I totally agree with them. Phantom's amazing in every way; even if you generally don't like classier music you should give this a try. It's way out there in the distance, beyond incredible.

the movie was spectacular and the soundtrack was just as superb! The vocals of all the people who sing are perfect! It is one soundtrack that is a must have!

i went to go see this in toronto in the princess of whales theatre, and oh my gosh! it was amazing! when i listened to this CD, it was just like sitting there, in the opera house again. amazing, perfect. A MUST BUY FOR ANYONE. THIS CD WILL MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. (my favourite song is wishing you were somehow here again :'( sad, but amazing vocals!)

Andrew Lloyd Webber (b. 1948) is the most successful composer of musicals of his generation and also a breaker of molds for the type. His predecessors were, for the most part, American: New York-based songwriters steeped in Broadway tradition. Lloyd Webber saw his share of shows as a child, too, but he was born in London, the son of William Lloyd Webber, Director of the London College of Music, and was trained at the Royal Academy of Music, hardly the sort of place where you'd be likely to hear Oklahoma!...
