Album Review

Belfegor hails from Poland, and boy, are they pissed. Theirs is a black metal Armageddon of the blackest sort. Blastbeat drumming, decapitating riffs, and hellacious screaming combine to form a wall of noise and destruction so impenetrable that none but the bravest black metal warriors will be able to endure more than a minute of The Kingdom of Glacial Palaces. Imagine the intensity of Emperor times two and you'll have the gist of it. Unfortunately, this unwavering sonic chaos can't disguise the trio's creative limitations, and only a few tracks ("Diabolical (Demonic Desire)," "Somewhere Beyond This Reality") stand out from the mayhem in any way. What remains is mostly excessive simply for the sake of excess.
