Album Review

As the man behind the music for television programs like Battlestar Galactica, Da Vinci's Demons, and Black Sails, composer Bear McCreary is no stranger to fantasy and historical fiction, which makes him just right for Starz' TV adaptation of author Diana Gabeldon's immensely popular time travel/romance novels. Outlander, Vol 1 rounds up 13 evocative musical cues from the British-American drama, all of which dutifully invoke images of the sweeping Scottish highlands and countryside that serve as the program's base of operations.

Amazing music for a cool show!!!

Bear McCreary's score is cinematic. It certainly sets the tone for the show when you first sit down to watch. In fact, I was channel surfing when I happened to hear the theme to Human Target, which is what first caught my attention to begin watching the show. Just finished watching the premiere of season 2 and the new theme is quite uninspiring, and the music throughout quite boring. You will be missed Mr. McCreary! Don't know why the studio/producers messed with such a good thing!

Amazing score!

Bear McCreary is one of the most talented composers to have ever graced Hollywood with their talents! He MADE Human Target season 1 what it was, and without him, the show with the uninspired, timid, dull opening for season 2 is severely lacking the originality that makes the show not as exciting to watch.

Luckily, fate deemeded it fit to have his first season score on iTunes so that the real fans of the show can enjoy his (Bear McCreary) epic compositions for many years to come! Well worth the buy is this album!
