Editors’ Notes

Dominating the airwaves upon its 1995 release, The Woman in Me made Shania Twain a household name, popularizing her sleek pop-country sound and demonstrating her versatility as both a vocalist and songwriter. Abetted by husband/producer Mutt Lange (the two met and married during these sessions), Twain purrs, pleads, and scolds her way through tunes that alternate between thoughtful ballads, sassy stompers, and twang-filled rockers. Selling more than 20 million copies, this album marked Twain's arrival as one of country's biggest hitmakers.

Bought this album back in 95 when it came out and this many years later, after loving every single song of this album one after the other, it truly comes out as a masterpiece of its time. Tracks 1 through 5, 8 and 11 remain my favorites.

Twain might have sold a lot of records, but like...
